In 2024, she was awarded a BAFTA for her outstanding contribution to the television industry, marking four-decades of her unstoppable and impressive broadcasting career, as a hugely significant presence on British television.

Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Dunblane tragedy in 2021, Lorraine visited the town to film a special documentary for ITV. Additionally, in 2023, she revisited Lockerbie to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the incident through a critically acclaimed documentary for ITV. 

In addition to her eponymous show, she has also presented many other TV programmes including The Last Leg, Queens for the Night and Have I Got News For You?

She has made guest appearances on The Masked Singer, The Graham Norton Show, Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeaway, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Late Night Lycett and Portrait Artist of the Year

Lorraine's best-selling debut fiction novel, The Island Swimmer is an uplifting and heartwarming tale about a woman returning to her family home on Orkney to care for her ill father, where she must confront her past and estranged sister. With the help of a cold-water swimming group, she uncovers family secrets and finds healing and clarity.

In 2012, Lorraine was awarded an OBE by HM The Queen at Holyrood palace in Edinburgh for services to charity and the armed forces. In 2020, Lorraine also received a CBE for services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.

Lorraine was elected Rector of Dundee University from 2004 to 2007. In June 2009, she was invited to be Honorary Colonel of the Black Watch Cadets. In 2019, she was awarded the title of National Honorary Colonel of the Army Cadet Force (ACF), a role she served in for five years. She is a keen charity supporter and is a patron of Help for Heroes and the STV Children’s Appeal.
