In August this year, she took her Brighton Fringe Comedy Award nominated show Gurl Code to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which performed to sold out crowds and received rave reviews. The show centers around the trans experience, portraying trans joy and sharing her experience of coming out to her father.
Alex Franklin first started performing whilst she was a student of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where she joined The Footlights. Through theatre, she discovered improv and sketch comedy, and is now an exciting up-and-coming name in the UK comedy scene. She has already performed at well-respected comedy venues such as Underbelly, Latitude Festival, The Pleasence, Bill Murray, Up The Creek and Brighton Komedia. She was a finalist in the Brighton Comedy Award 2021, Max Turner Competition 2019, Chortle Student Comedy Award 2018, and shortlisted for the BBC Radio 4 New Comedy Award 2019.
Outside of performance, Alex has also made her mark in the gaming space, at a time ranking among the top gamers in Europe. She is keen to incorporate this into her current work - both in the projects she is developing and across her digital platforms. Alex is also available for corporate talks for subjects including: gaming, biology, biomedical sciences, LGBTQIA+ and trans topics, and more.
She is currently developing exciting ideas and formats for broadcast, digital and live.
